The Examination Yuan has just passed the draft of the Senior Professional and Technical Examinations Regulations for Public Health Specialists on November 26, 2020. Using both essay and multiple choice questions, six subjects will be tested, including health regulations and ethics, biostatistics, epidemiology, health administration and management, environment and occupational health, and health & social behavior. Candidates must earn an average of 60 points or above to pass.
The first law of its kind in Asia, according to President Tsai Ing-wen, the Public Health Specialists Act was promulgated on June 3, 2020. After the Public Health Specialists Act was passed, the Ministry of Health and Welfare began drawing up related subsidiary laws and reviewing exam eligibility requirements. The MOEX has also started preparations for a public health examiner candidate database and public health specialist examinations. Exam registration is slated to begin after July 2021, with the exam to be held in November.
