Title MOEX changes medical personnel examination to improve medical care quality.
Content

MOEX is investing more effort in medical personnel examination reforms. Starting July 2018, exam results were announced in stages. By 2022, clinical and counseling psychologist exams were using computer-based testing. In 2023, the twice-yearly exam for registered professional nurses will be administered three times each year, while the exam for practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine will be administered by computer. These measures aim to help health care institutions address staffing shortages. We at MOEX are working hard with other government agencies to maintain the quality of public health care.

With the COVID-19 pandemic putting front-line health workers under great pressure, bringing new blood into the industry has become an urgent concern. To relieve staffing shortages and avoid mass gatherings caused by exams, an additional exam for registered professional nurses will be held in November, apart from the usual ones in February and July.

To coincide with he latest issue of the National Examination Newsletter features story on Dr. Chen Wei-Min, Superintendent of Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan. Dr. Chen has been awarded the Civil Service Outstanding Contribution Award in recognition of his dedication to medical practice and contributions to public health over a career spanning more than 30 years. Saying that the sky’s the limit, Chen encouraged young people to stay open-minded and optimistic, focus on the present no matter where you are, and find interests and try your best. MOEX encourages medical students to start preparing for the national exam early. This interview is available on the national exam app.
