New measures for national exams are set to start in 2023, including no longer testing official government letter writing for 22 civil service exams. English language proficiency will be required for 5 exams, including level 3 senior civil service exams. Question outlines for 43 exam subjects in junior, level 3 senior service, and local governments exams have been amended. An additional exam for registered professional nurses will be held. The Chinese medicine practitioners exam will be computer-based with no test of Chinese writing and translation in the first stage, which should reflect the profession’s core competencies. The examination for national defense legal officers has been added to meet the hiring needs of the employing agency.
In order to cater to the internet generation and the trend towards digitalization, as well as to maintain order and security, viewing exam venues or bringing companions to exams will no longer be allowed in 2023. Information such as exam venue layout will be announced on the MOEX website and on the exam registration system in advance. Exam takers can also check information through other channels such as QR codes in examination notifications. A refund application feature has also been added to the exam registration system to provide more efficient service.
MOEX stresses that national exams provide opportunities for youth to enter public service and find fulfilling careers. For those interested in joining in the public sector or obtaining professional certifications, visit MOEX’s website and start preparing early.
